What Are Intel Integrated Connectivity (CNVi) and Companion RF (CRF) Modules?
Intel Integrated Connectivity (CNVi) integrates key components of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth® technology directly into Intel® processors. This solution enhances wireless performance and simplifies the design of wireless-enabled devices.
Components of Intel Integrated Connectivity:
- CNVi: The built-in wireless IP section of Intel processors.
- Companion RF (CRF) Module: An M.2 form factor module (available in 2230 and 1216 soldered down formats) that complements the CNVi.

- These CRF modules are designed to work exclusively with select Intel processors and chipsets.
- They must be used on systems or motherboards specifically engineered to support CNVi to function correctly.
- While you can physically install these CRF modules into a standard M.2 Key E socket, they will only function properly in a system optimized for CNVi.
